Hello everyone, my apologies for this extremely LONG absence of updates. I'm in my last months of school, so that's what's been keeping me away and unable to keep up with the group for the time being and the past year+. I graduate in March, so I aim to open the first new semester in the summer of 2015!
But in the mean time I have some unbelievably AWESOME resources for you. This is not thanks to me though, it is thanks to the very gracious
who contacted me.
Please know that becoming a stronger artist comes from building resources, applying what you learn from those resources, and constant practice. This practice includes quite often leaving your comfort zone
. Through practice and using the resources you find you build up your visual library. You can have a visual library where you keep stock resources for drawing reference or maybe a folder filled with helpful tutorials you found on DA or elsewhere on the internet, but your visual library is the one you have in your head, that from time to time and more often in the future you can tap into without using picture reference on your computer and apply to your artwork.
I have been told many times from my teachers at my university [in regards to the strongest method of building your visual library], you gain a visual library THROUGH LIVING. Go places, do things, with friends OR alone, and experience life. You can become an artist sitting in a dark room and drawing all your life, but only through the process of actually LIVING and EXPERIENCING the world around you can you create art worth experiencing, that is tangible and relatable for the audience who views it. No matter your subject or the message you're trying to get across, being human and living, loving, experiencing the full spectrum of emotions that are wonderful and terrible, is how you learn to be an artist.
My tangent aside XD - Here are some incredible resources for artists:Remember not all tutorials are 100% correct, but they are a great starting point. Find what works for you.
